How the Gods Kill - Book Cover
This project solution called for a book cover design that used an artist and their album as a name/theme. I chose Glenn Danzig's "How the Gods Kill" as it could have many interesting thematic designs(and it was an album I was listening to at the time). I shot the photos on the front and cover in a local church. One image is spread across the entire book cover; while many are Photoshopped in(such as the angel's with swords). I edited and added different abstract graphic elements to tie in with a horror theme. As the story is about a character's mind twisting and taking shape, I created inverse graphics for the inner flaps to be abstracted synapses of the mind. -
Alchemist - CD Cover Redesign
This is a redesign of the "Austral Alien" album by Australian band Alchemist. This project contains a mini-booklet of lyrics, CD, promotional 11" x 17" poster, and CD case. I wanted to tie more elements of Alchemy into the project. The original album art was full of abstract graphics that did not have a theme. The symbol in the center resembles the unity of all elements - Earth, Wind, Fire, Water. The abstract graphics within the booklet, case, and poster are meant to be almost explosive reactions of alchemic chemistry. Because the album is called "Austral Alien"(a play on Australian), I chose to vertically align the song titles in the booklet so that they resemble an alien language. -
Ascension - Nintendo(NES) Game Press/Release Kit
Gaming has been a part of my life since I was four years old. This project is a tribute to that passion. I designed the entire game and concept as if it were a real game to be developed and released on the NES. One of my favorite game genres are "Shoot Em Ups". These games were either horizontal or vertical shooters(or in some cases static, such as Galaga) where you piloted a ship or other vessel and shot down enemies to achieve a high score. Ascension is inspired by the likes of 1942, Gradius, Gun * Nac, and many others. The game is set in the vastness of space in which invaders are intending to destroy planets in the galaxy. I created original box art, cartridge art, T-shirts, and a 11x17 poster for the "release" of the game. Using an exploded NES game box, I translated it into a template in InDesign. Graphics were created in Photoshop and Illustrator(including the screenshots on the back of the box). The cartridge art is essentially the box art scaled down to proper size with the "Ascension" name on the cartridge lip. "Apeiron Games" is a fictitious game development company I created for this game. The logo is included each piece - the T-Shirts, cartridge art, box art, and poster art. -
Apeiron Graphics - Personal Business Card
My business card reflects my design philosophy and identity. "Apeiron" is a Greek word meaning "unlimited" or "infinite". I am a firm believer and going beyond your own boundaries, into the infinite, to learn and create. My initials on the back of the card also resemble the infinite symbol. I chose the gold foil stand for the name and the back-side initial to create dynamism against the dark blue background. For legibility purposes, I chose to not foil stamp my contact information. What good is your contact information if someone has to hold it at an angle to read it?
